Etsy description writer: a free Claude Skill
AI descriptions have a smell: "elevate your space", "crafted with love", and a material the item isn't made of. This skill writes the opposite: short, specific, and true to what you told it.

What it changes
The first line. Red is what came in; green is what the skill hands back.
- Opens with the two sentences that matter most: what the item is, its size and material, and who it's for.
- Follows with scannable details: dimensions, materials, options, what's in the box, care.
- Writes personalisation instructions so buyers send the right thing.
- Uses plain text, because Etsy doesn't render HTML.
- Reminds you to disclose AI-generated designs or a production partner when that applies.
- Lists the [placeholders] you still need to fill.
What it checks
The rules in the file, as the file states them.
- Opening
- two sentences: what it is, size, material, who it's for
- Details
- dimensions · materials · options · what's in the box · care
- Personalisation
- exactly what the buyer should send
- Format
- plain text and simple bullets; HTML shows as text
- Length
- hard cap 102,400 chars; a good one is far shorter
- Disclosure
- AI-generated designs or a production partner, if they apply
What it won't do
- Invent materials, origin, handmade claims, or benefits.
- Restate your shipping and returns policy.
- Paste your tags into the text.
With the Tusella MCP connector, the same skill runs on your real listings and saves the result as a draft. Nothing reaches Etsy until you publish.

Install, then ask
Three ways in. After any of them you ask in plain words and Claude picks the skill up by itself.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install it?
Download the zip, then in Claude open Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload it. In Claude Code, run npx skills add tusella/etsy-claude-skills --skill etsy-description-writer. Then just ask; the skill loads by itself.
Will it make up details about my product?
No. It uses only what you tell it or what's in your current description. If a fact is missing, it asks or leaves a [placeholder] for you to fill.
Can I use bold text or HTML?
No. Etsy shows HTML as plain text, so the skill writes plain lines and simple bullets that look right on Etsy.
