Check and improve your Etsy title

The checker above measures your draft title against Etsy’s 140-character limit. It also checks tags, so you can review both fields before editing a listing. It does not generate a title or predict where the listing will rank.

Write the product name first

Start with what the buyer will receive, then add the details that distinguish your item. “Walnut cutting board with custom engraving” tells a buyer more than a string of gift occasions and repeated keywords. If the material, size, or personalization is central to the purchase, include it; if not, save it for the description.

Etsy recommends clear, easy-to-scan titles and suggests considering fewer than 15 words. That is guidance, not a second character limit. A useful title can be shorter or longer depending on the item.

Check the draft before publishing

1. Read it without the photo. Is the item identifiable?
2. Remove repeated words and claims the product page cannot support.
3. Check the character limit above.
4. Compare it with your tags and add relevant phrases that the title could not include.
