Estimate for a US seller in USD using rates checked October 2026. It excludes sales tax, currency conversion, shipping-label charges, and other shop-specific fees. Offsite Ads applies only to an attributed sale. Confirm current rates on Etsy.
The forward view starts with a price and shows estimated fees, profit, and margin. Switch to “I have a target margin” to enter the margin you want and see an estimated item price. Both modes use the same cost-per-item input.
Margin is not markup
If an order brings in $40 and leaves $12 after fees and costs, its margin is 30% (12 ÷ 40). Markup instead compares profit with cost. This calculator reports margin on the full order total, including shipping charged to the buyer.
Use the target-price result carefully
Add materials, labor, packaging, and seller-paid shipping to your cost input. The model assumes a US seller, Etsy’s $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee, and US payment processing at 3% plus $0.25. Optional Offsite Ads is included only when selected. A result may need rounding up to a practical price; check the forward view after rounding.
The result excludes tax, currency conversion, and other shop-specific charges. Compare it with Etsy’s current fee policy and your payment account before using it as a final price. The fee guide explains the inputs.
Frequently asked questions
How is margin calculated?
In the forward view, margin is estimated profit after modeled fees and your combined cost, divided by item price plus shipping charged.
What does the target-margin mode return?
It solves for an item price under the same US fee assumptions and your entered shipping charge, quantity, cost, and target margin. Round and recheck before publishing.
