Etsy titles and 13 tags: a free Claude Skill
Ask a chatbot for Etsy tags and you'll often get "personalized linen apron for men": 31 characters, which Etsy won't accept. This skill makes Claude write a title and exactly 13 tags that fit, with every count shown.

You write a title and 13 tags for this listing
Title (93/140):Linen apron with pockets, adjustable neck strap, natural flax kitchen apron for men and women Tags (13/13):1. linen apron [11]2. apron with pockets [18]3. flax linen kitchen [18]4. cooking gift for men [20]5. gift for home cook [18]6. adjustable strap [16]7. natural flax linen [18]8. kitchen gift women [18]9. chef apron unisex [17]10. housewarming gift [17]11. farmhouse kitchen [17]12. sourdough baker [15]13. pocket apron [12] Why these: the item and its pockets first, then material, who it's for,and gift occasions. No tag repeats "apron" more than four times.
What it changes
A chatbot's tags, then the skill's. Red is what came in; green is what the skill hands back.
- Asks what the item is, its material, size, and who it's for. It doesn't guess.
- Writes a readable title (≤ 140 characters) that starts with what the item is.
- Writes 13 multi-word tags (≤ 20 characters each) covering different angles: item, material, style, occasion, who it's for.
- Skips tags that only repeat your category or attributes, which Etsy already uses.
- Shows a count next to every tag, and recounts after every edit.
What it checks
The rules in the file, as the file states them.
- Title
- ≤ 140 chars · starts with what the item is · readable
- Tags
- exactly 13 · each ≤ 20 chars · no commas
- Phrases
- multi-word, as a buyer would type them
- Angles
- item · material · style · occasion · who it's for
- Repeats
- the same word in at most 3–4 tags
- Counting
- every tag, before showing; again after edits
What it won't do
- See search volume or competition. For numbers, bring a keyword tool's results.
- Add brand names you don't own.
- Pick for you. You decide what to keep.
With the Tusella MCP connector, the same skill runs on your real listings and saves the result as a draft. Nothing reaches Etsy until you publish.

Install, then ask
Three ways in. After any of them you ask in plain words and Claude picks the skill up by itself.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install it?
Download the zip, then in Claude open Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload it. In Claude Code, run npx skills add tusella/etsy-claude-skills --skill etsy-titles-and-tags. Then just ask; the skill loads by itself.
Does it know Etsy search volume?
No. It writes phrases a buyer is likely to type and keeps them inside Etsy's limits. For volume numbers, use a keyword research tool and give the results to Claude.
Why count characters?
Etsy caps each tag at 20 characters, and chatbots routinely miscount. The skill writes each tag's count next to it and rewrites any tag that's over.
